Oneida Builders
is a remodeling/design firm, specializing in kitchens, basements, bathrooms, and other additions. President Rocco Sinisgalli knew he couldn't run the type of business he wanted in his small hometown of Utica, NY, so he moved to Atlanta in 1996. Another factor precipitating the move was the northern winters, but Rocco set his goal long before migrating south. In second grade, he remembers saying he wanted to work in construction when he grew up. "It's the only thing I've ever wanted to do," he says. "Remodeling a house is very self-satisfying, because the customer actually wants us there and appreciates everything we do. I always tell my customers that diamonds are forever, but remodeling is a better investment." Home Reports interviewed 54 of Oneida's customers. Though the company doesn't qualify as a Best Pick, it has been listed as an honorable mention. Oneida carries both workers' compensation and liability insurance, and many of its employees have been with Rocco for more than five years. Designer and corporation director Melina Wilkinson states, "The clients tend to bond with us. They actually miss Rocco and me when the project's finished and we've left."
