Wilserv
installs fiberglass, cellulose, and Icynene foam insulation on existing homes. The company also specializes in insulating walls, insulation removal, window replacement, insulated siding, and gutter installation. Owner Robert Wilson started in the business in 1976, retrofitting homes with insulation. "There was a time when Robert would get up in the attic and blow in the insulation," General Manager Ron Akins says, "and his wife would be in the truck helping." During the building boom, Robert switched to working on newly constructed homes. With Wilserv, he's gone back to his roots. "Retrofitting is something that separates us from other companies," Ron says. Wilserv has 20 employees, carries liability and workers' compensation insurance, and offers free energy audits. Workers are screened for drugs and given a background check prior to employment. The company offers environmentally friendly, or "green," materials—cellulose, for example, is made from recycled newspaper—and makes sure jobs are done correctly and to the customer's satisfaction. Robert states, "If the homeowner has a problem, we'll go back out and fix it. With 33 years in the insulation business, I stand behind my work."
