Many Atlanta homeowners take advantage of the area's temperate climate by grilling out or entertaining on their second-story deck. In most cases, the usability of the area underneath a second-story deck is limited because of water or debris drainage that makes the space damp and dingy. However, this square footage can easily be turned into a second outdoor room just by installing a waterproof ceiling system on the underside of the deck.
Undercover Systems, a family-owned Atlanta decking business, installs a self-supported structural steel ceiling under decks to create a year-round dry space. After more than a decade of experience in the Atlanta decking industry, Undercover Systems President Tom Stevens patented his unique creation, which he believes is superior to other underdeck designs on the market.
On the underside of decks, Undercover Systems installs individual ceiling panels and integrated gutters that collect water from the system while serving as support members for the ceiling. All water is channeled from ceiling panels to the perimeter gutter system, where it exits through periodic downspouts.
Pleased Atlanta customers reported using the area for dry storage or adding a ceiling fan and screening in the area to enjoy outdoor weather while keeping out unwanted bugs. The area can also be enclosed with solid walls or sliding glass doors.
This is Undercover Systems' third year as an Atlanta Best Pick under-deck system contractor. Installations are usually completed in one day, and lead time is typically three weeks from signing to installation. Atlanta's under-deck busy season starts in the spring and continues until early fall, so installing a system during the off-season cuts down on wait time.
